Tim Leier, a graduate of North Battleford High School, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.S. P.E., 1985; B. Comm., 1992) in 1980.

Tim was a forward on the Huskies hockey team for five years and played defensive back on the football team for four seasons.

He was named to the Canada West conference all-star team at defensive back in 1984. He was later an assistant coach with the football team for two years.

While a member of the hockey team, the Huskies won the Canada West title three times and the CIAU championship in 1982-83. In 76 games in conference play, he had 17 goals, 32 assists and 49 points.

Tim was awarded the E. Kent Phillips Trophy as the outstanding male athlete at the University in 1984.
