Jerry Friesen, a graduate of Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B. Ed., 1994) in 1974.

Jerry was a member of the Huskies football team for three years and served as co-captain for two seasons. He was a Canada West conference all-star linebacker for three straight seasons - 1975, 1976, 1977 - and in 1976 and 1977 was named to the CIAU All-Canadian team.

He was selected to the Canadian team in 1977 for the inaugural Can-Am Bowl in Tamp, Florida, featuring all-stars from Canadian and U.S. Colleges.

Jerry was picked by the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL draft and went on to play for Montreal and the Saskatchewan Roughriders for nine years.

He was formerly the head coach of the University of Alberta Golden Bears and is currently special teams coordinator for the Huskies.
