Social Media Assistant - Huskie Football (Part Time/Seasonal)
The Usask Huskies are seeking a Social Media Assistant for the Huskie Football team to help bring fans closer to our teams through engaging digital content and storytelling. This role is about capturing the energy of our events, highlighting the fan experience, elevating the student athlete experience and creating new ways for fans to connect with our team and athletes.
This role is ideal for someone who is creative, understands the power of digital media, thrives in a fast paced, team-first environment and is looking to grow their career in sports and/or marketing.
The successful candidate will play a key role in capturing authentic moments, enhancing the fan experience, and representing one of the premier brands in Canadian University sport with professionalism and consistency.
This role reports to the Digital Content Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture and create compelling content that highlights fan energy, game day atmosphere, and the student-athlete experience
- Support the Huskies gameday coverage, capturing and posting content for social media during the game
- Produce short-form content optimized for social media platforms in collaboration with the Digital Content Coordinator
- Contribute to storytelling initiatives that strengthen fan engagement and deepen connection to the Huskie football team
- Ensure content aligns with the Usask Huskies brand standards and strategic priorities
- Follow direction on content priorities, tone, and messaging while contributing thoughtful, creative ideas
- Maintain a professional presence when interacting with student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans
- Work with premade social media templates to help push information to our followers
Requirements:
- Availability to attend Huskie home games and select practices, must have availability on weekends and evenings
- Understanding of social media platforms, content trends, and digital storytelling
- Attention to detail and ability to execute within established brand guidelines
- Trustworthy, professional, and respectful of team boundaries and internal operations
- Ability to represent the USask Huskies in a positive, energetic, and brand-aligned manner
- Previous experience in social media management or currently pursuing a career in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field is an asset
Compensation Package:
- Flat rate honorarium of $1,000
- Playoff incentive of $75 per game
