Percy Maguire, a graduate of Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.A., 1921; LLB, 1924) in 1917.
After serving in the First World War, he was a member of the Huskies football team from 1917-20 and the basketball team from 1917-24, winning the Rigby Trophy as Western Intercollegiate basketball champions in 1924.
As a member of the track & field team, Percy excelled in the 440 yard run and the hurdles, setting university records in both events.
Following graduation he was instrumental in organizing the University Grads basketball team.
He was president of the Athletic Directorate in 1920-21 and returned as alumni representative on the Men's Athletic Board in 1936.
Percy was admitted to the Bar in 1924 and practiced law almost continuously in Saskatoon until 1962, when he was appointed to the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal, a position he held until 1974.
During the Second World War, he served for a time as acting city solicitor in Saskatoon.
He was one of the first directors of the Saskatoon Hilltops football club and helped establish the Saskatoon Track & Field Club in 1948.
