A sweep of the sprint events led the Huskies to the men's team title in the CIAU Championship at the Saskatoon Field House.
Cyprian Enweani won the 60-metres, Darryl Isbister captured the 300 metres and Brian Thompson took the 600 metres. Enweani went on to represent Canada at teh 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics, finishing ninth in the 200 metres, while Thompson was on the national team for the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland.
John Neufeld added a fourth gold for the Huskies, winning the high jump.
Russell Siebert was second in pole vault. The 4X200 relay team of Greg Luterbach, Paul Rogal, Enweani and Isbister finished third.
Adding to the Huskies team total were Graham Cleghorn, fifth in pole vault; Mike Segu, fifth in high jump; Michael Loewen, sixth in long jump; the 4X300 relay team of Greg Kolysher, Kevin Wiseman, Max Muzzolini and Isbister, which was fourth; the 4X800 relay team of Scott Brinklow, Muzzolini, Thompson and Wiseman, which was also fourth and shot putters Leonard McCoshen (fifth) and Byron McCorkell (sixth).
McCoshen and McCorkell were both linemen for the Huskies football team and Rogal was a wide receiver.
