Brian Thompson (B.Sc., 1988), a native of Lanigan, Saskatchewan, attended Tisdale Composite School.

He competed on the Huskies track & field team from 1983-87, setting club records in the 600 and 800 metres and was a key member of the 4X200-, 4X400 and 4X800-metre relay teams.

Brian won eight medals at the Canada West conference championships and qualified four times for the CIAU championships, highlighted by a gold in the CIAU 600 metres in 1987 when he contributed to the Huskies' team title.

His time of 1:17.06 in the 600 metres in 1985 was the fastest in the world that year and ranked fifth on the all-time list.

He competed as a member of the Canadian national team in the 800 metres at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland and the 1987 FISU Games in Zagreb, Yogoslavia.

Brian was inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
