Heather Witzel, a graduate of Courtenay High School in Courtenay, B.C., enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.S.P.E., 1973; M.Sc., 1973; B.Ed., 1974) in 1970.

During her three years with Huskiette basketball, the team had an 85-11 record.

While a student at the University of Saskatchewan, Heather was a member of the Canadian basketball team which toured China, Cuba and Italy. She competed at the 1971 Pan-American Games in Cali, Colombia and the 1971 World Championship in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where Canada placed 10th.

Heather was also a member of the Huskiette field hockey team for two years.

In 1973, she was awarded the Bob Stayner Torphy as the outstanding female athlete in a tournament sport at the U of S.
