Joyce (Senyk) Gamborg, a graduate of Melville Comprehensive High School, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.A., 1984) in 1979.

Joyce, a 6-2 middle blocker and power hitter, played for the Huskiette volleyball team for four seasons, winning the CIAU championship three times (1978-79, 1979-80 and 1980-1981). In the 1981 final against the home court Ottawa Gee-Gees, Joyce had 13 kills.

She was a two-time Canada West conference all-star - in 1980-81 and 1981-82 - and was named an All-Canadian in 1980-81.

Joyce went on to play for the Canadian national team for 10 seasons, highlighted by playing in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

She also competed at teh 1981 and 1983 World University Games, the 1982 world championship and the 1983 Pan-American Games. She was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.

Joyce married Brian Gamborg, also an inductee into the University of Saskatchewan Athletic Wall of Fame.
