James Rozon, a graduate of Holy Cross High School in Saskatoon, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.Comm, 1990) in 1981.
He competed in university gymnastics for four years. He was the Canada West conference all-around champion in 1984, 1985 and 1986 and was a CIAU All-Canadian in those same three years.
In 1985 and 1986, James was CIAU champion in floor exercise, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. He was the all=around champion in the University Cup in 1988.
James was a member of the Canadian gymnastics team from 1982 to 1988. He was a bronze medalist at the 1983 Pan-American Games in Caracas, Venezuela, represented Canada at the 1985 (Montreal) and 1987 (Rotterdam) world championships, and competed at the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics, finishing ninth in the men's team event.
He was awarded the Howard Nixon Trophy as the university's top male athlete in a tournament sport in 1985. In 1988, he was named Sask Sport Male Athlete of the Year.
James was inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame in 1989.
