Shannon Kekula Kristiansen, a native of Marsden and graduate of Aden Bowman Collegiate in Saskatoon, was a member of the Huskies track & field team from 1985-89.

She won CIAU championships in shot put in both 1988 and 1989, setting the CIAU record in her senior year. She held the record for 21 years until Taryn Suttie broke it in 2009.

Shannon went on to win gold in shot put at the 1989 Canada Summer Games in Saskatoon and was eighth at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria.

An accomplished volleyball player, she tried out for the national junior team but decided to pursue track & field instead.
