Dorenda (Stirton) Schoenhals, a graduate of Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.S.N., 1969) in 1963.

She played third on the curling team, which won the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship in her first season and for the next four seasons skipped the team to the conference title.

In 1967, her rink advanced to the 2nd Century Games and captured the Canadian university championship.

Dorenda's 1968-69 WCIAA championship rink went on to win the 1970 Canadian women's title in Calgary, becoming the youngest team to win the championship.

In addition to competing in curling, Dorenda was a member of the Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Board and intamural representative for the College of Nursing.

Dorenda is an inductee into both the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame.
