Marshall Toner, a graduate of Evan Hardy Collegiate, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.E., 1986) in 1981.

Marshall was a member of the Huskies football team for five seasons and competed on both the track & field team and hockey team for one year.

After being selected to the Canada West all-star team at slotback in 1984, Marshall elevated his game higher, making All-Canadian in 1985 in both football and track & field. He was a member of the 4X800-metre relay team that won the Canada West and CIAU Championship.

In 1986, Marshall was awarded the E. Kent Phillips Trophy as male athlete of the year at the U of S.

He went on to play six years in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders.
