Playing for the Huskies at keeper from 1991 to 1995, Samantha Simpson put herself in the national spotlight and turned heads even when the team wasn’t showing success in the standings.

In the five-year span, the Huskies won just five games yet Samantha was given the lone Canada West All-Star spot three times and was an All-Canadian twice. In the 1993-94 season, Samantha was named the Canada West Most Valuable Player and the Huskie Athletics Female Athlete of the Year – soccer’s first and only. Samantha played in 30 games and recorded 10 shutouts in her career.
