Norman Cram, a graduate of Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon, enrolled at teh University of Saskatchewan in 1938. He attended the University of Saskatchewan for three years, entered the service in 1941, then returned to the University for two more years in 1945.

A guard, he led the Huskies basketball team to three consecutive Western Canadian University Championships, from 1938 to 1941. Following his stint in the service, he rejoined the basketball team for two more years.

Norman was the coach of the Huskiette women's basketball team from 1945 to 1946.

He was a member of the track & field team for three years, competing in the 880 yards, mile and discus. He was also a member of the soccer team for two years and the swim team for one year. Norman competed in water polo and football at the inter-faculty intramurall level. For competing on nine varsity teams, he received a Major Athletic Award.

Norman went on to serve as registrar at the University from 1951 to 1968 and was University secretary from 1974 to 1984.
