Blaine Knoll, a graduate of Yorkton Collegiate, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B. Ed., 1966) in 1962.

Blaine was an outstanding running back with the Huskies football team for four years. In 1965, he led the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union in rushing with 522 yards, finished second in scoring with 47 points and was named to the conference all-star team.

He played right wing on the Huskies hockey team for two seasons, collecting 26 points in 20 games. He tied for the team lead in assists, with 14, in 1965-66.

For his athletic achievements, Blaine received a Major Athletic Award in 1965-66.

Blaine went on to coach football and wrestling at Evan Hardy Collegiate, leading the Souls to provincial football championship in 1977, 1978 and 1979 and was coach of the Saskatoon Hilltops football team from 1981 to 1984.

He was inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame.
