Donna Veale, a graduate of Yorkton Regional High School, enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan (B.S.P.E., 1978; B.Ed, 1980; M.Sc., 1985) in 1974.
Donna was a member of the Huskiettes basketball team for four years, the field hockey team for two years and volleyball team for one season.
She scored 571 points with the Huskiettes, at the time ranking sixth all-time on the team's career list.
While a student at the University of Saskatchewan she was also a member of Canada's national women's softball team.
In 1978, Donna was awarded the Valerie Girsberger Trophy for leadership, sportsmanship, athletics and academics. In 1979, she received the Bob Stayner Trophy as the University's top female athlete in a tournament sport.
