Andrew Spagrud made an immediate impact on the court for the men’s basketball team when he debuted for the Huskies in 2003. In his rookie season, Spagrund was recognized as a Second Team conference All-Star and was named the Rookie of the Year at both the Canada West and CIS levels. Spagrund would follow up that performance by winning the Canada West Player of the Year award in 2004-05.  

In his final four seasons with the squad from 2004-05 to 2007-08, Andrew was named a CIS All-Canadian.

Spagrund was named the Huskie Athletics Howard Nixon Trophy winner as the Male Rookie of the Year in 2003-04 and won the E. Kent Phillips Trophy as the Huskies Male Athlete of the Year in his final year, 2007-08. Spagrud still holds the all-time leading scoring record in Huskies and Canada West history with 2182 points.
