The Huskiettes repeated as CIAU Champions with a 3-1 (15-7, 17-15, 8-15, 15-6) win over the University of Ottawa at Education Gym. Saskatchewan finished the season with a 21-1 record.

With Ottawa leading 15-14 in the second game, the Huskiettes rallied. Drora Epstein, a transfer student from Utah State, tied the game at 15-15 with a service ace. Cindy Shepherd made it 16-15 Huskiettes with a stuff block and when Ottawa was called for a violation, Saskatchewan took the game and seized control of the match.

Earlier the Huskiettes defeated the University of British Columbia 3-1 (5-15, 15-5, 15-5, 15-7) for the Canada West Championship.

Power hitter Dorothy Schwaiger and setter Melanie Sanford were named Canada West First Team All-Stars, while Epstein and Gisele Rongve were selected to the Second Team.

The 1979-80 Huskiettes have been inducted into both the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame.
