Michael P.J. Kennedy launched the first edition of Dogs on Ice: A History of Hockey at the University of Saskatchewan in 2006 chronicling Huskie Hockey’s beginnings and history after doing research, writing, editing and organizing funding for the book. In 2015, an updated second edition of Dogs on Ice was published with the inclusion of history of the women’s hockey program.

The Dr. Michael P.J. Kennedy Scholarship began in 2004 in support of Huskie Hockey. The royalties from both editions of Dogs on Ice are donated to the scholarship fund.

As a passionate fan, major donor, writer and historian, P.J. has purchased and donated many copies of Dogs On Ice to libraries across the country to share the passion of Huskie Hockey with Canadians. For over 20 years, P.J. has consistently stepped up to volunteer for Huskie Athletics with hosting events, writing content and a number of other activities.
