HALIFAX, N.S. - For just the fourth time in program history, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies features the top freshman in U SPORTS Men's Hockey. Recognized at the 2026 University Cup All-Canadian banquet, first-year USask student-athlete Conner ROulette was awarded the Clare Drake Trophy as the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year. Following a remarkable debut campaign, the former ECHLer and WHLer becomes just the fourth Huskie to be recognized with the national award and first since 2008-09.
Also honoured at the All-Canadian banquet was third-year defenceman
Landon Kosior, who was recognized as a Second Team All-Canadian earning the first All-Canadian nod of his already impressive career with the Dogs.

Conner Roulette burst onto the Canada West hockey scene in his first season in green & white.
In his debut season the Economics major totaled 15 goals and 35 points, finishing the campaign tied for seventh in conference scoring. The rookie scoring leader, he also recorded 10 power play points and three game-winning goals to help the Huskies to second-place in Canada West's East Division.
One of Saskatchewan's most consistent performers, he recorded more multi-point games (8) than pointless games (6) and tied the fourth-longest scoring streak on the team with 11 points in six games.
Roulette also boasted an impressive two-way game, finishing the season with the third-best +/- rating on the team at +16.
In the Canada West playoffs, the freshman somehow took his game to another level. In six contests he led all conference scorers with five goals and 12 points, helping lead the Huskies to a perfect playoff record and program's second consecutive conference title. He scored two game-winners in the postseason run, with the first coming in his debut playoff appearance and second coming in the title-clinching game against the MRU Cougars.
Prior to the Canada West Finals, he was named a conference All-Rookie and the Rookie of the Year, becoming the 12th Huskie to be recognized as the top Canada West freshman.
Head of Saskatchewan's 23rd University Cup appearance he was also honoured nationally with the Clare Drake Trophy as the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year. It marked the fourth time a USask student-athlete has taken home the national award and the first since the 2008-09 season when Steven DeSilva was named the top freshman in the country.
Defenceman
Landon Kosior was also recognized nationally, earning the first All-Canadian nod of his career as a 2025-26 Second Team All-Canadian.
Playing on the Huskies' top pairing, Kosior finished second in scoring among Canada West defenceman, averaging just over a point per game with four goals and 29 assists. In addition to his five-on-five offensive ability, he was a staple of the fifth-best power play unit in the nation and recorded 17 points quarterbacking on the man advantage.
Defensively, he helped the Huskies to the fourth-fewest goals against in Canada West while boasting a +11 rating.
In the playoffs, he played a key role in Saskatchewan's undefeated run to the conference championship, totaling seven assists and eight points.
Roulette, Kosior and the Huskies will make their 2026 University Cup debut Thursday night (Mar. 19) at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, taking the ice to face off with the tournament hosts and eighth-seeded Saint Mary's Huskies.
