Huskie Men’s Hockey Adds Former Saskatoon Blades Captain Tyler Parr

SASKATOON, Sask. - The University of Saskatchewan Huskie Men's Hockey team and head coach Brandin Cote announced today the signing of former WHL forward and Saskatoon Blades captain Tyler Parr.

"Tyler is a proven leader and an elite competitor who embodies everything we value in our program," said Cote. "As the former captain of the Saskatoon Blades, he's shown maturity, loyalty, and the ability to elevate the people around him. He's a complete player who can impact the game in every area, and his passion for playing hockey in Saskatoon makes this a natural fit. We're ecstatic to welcome Tyler to the Huskies."

"Obviously I've played the last five years with the Blades, so [Saskatoon is] a familiar place for me," said Parr. "I've got some ex-teammates and some guys I know on the team and there's a lot of familiarity there, so it was a very comfortable decision for me. To get to stay [in Saskatoon] and continue playing hockey is really special."

A 5-foot-11 forward and La Salle, Manitoba product, Parr is set to trade in the SaskTel Centre for Merlis Belsher Place following a five-year career with the Saskatoon Blades. Previously committed to Union College of the NCAA, Parr brings with him 285 career games of experience with the Blades where he amassed 48 goals and 149 points.

During his time with the Blades, he recorded his best campaign during the 2024-25 season where he earned career highs in both goals (20) and points (61) while serving as an alternate captain.

Wearing the "C" for the 2025-26 season, he helped lead the Blades to a 34-27-7 record and playoff berth where he appeared in 11 of his 39 career postseason contests. Recording seven points, he more than doubled his playoff point total, ending his WHL career with five goals and 12 points.

Parr is set to join several familiar faces when he dons green & white this fall with Ben Saunderson, Conner Roulette, Josh Pillar, and Rhett Rhinehart all having shared the ice with the latest addition to the 2026 recruiting class.
