SASKATOON, Sask. - The University of Saskatchewan Huskie Men's Hockey team and head coach Brandin Cote announced today the signing of former NCAA and WHL forward Logan McCutcheon.
"Logan is a complete defenseman with exceptional hockey sense, strong playmaking ability, and a mature, defensively reliable game," said Cote. "His transition play adds another important element to our already strong D corps, and he brings the poise and competitiveness he showed throughout his WHL career. As a former assistant captain in Lethbridge and a proud Saskatoon kid, he's a proven leader and an outstanding teammate. We're excited to welcome Logan home to the Huskies."
"I think when you look at the Huskie program over the last couple of years, they've had a lot of success, won a couple [Canada Wests] now, and I think that I wanted to come to a program like that where we can try and win a national championship," said McCutcheon. It's a great group of guys, it's a great school, it's a great staff, and I'm really excited to get going."
A 5-foot-10 blueliner and local Saskatoon product, McCutcheon joins the Huskies out of the NCAA's Quinnipiac Bobcats where he appeared in eight games in the 2025-26 season and recorded 2 assists.
Prior to his time with the Bobcats, the defenceman was a member of the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes for five seasons from 2020 to 2025. In 299 regular season games, McCutcheon totaled 23 goals and 147 points. His best campaign with the Hurricanes came in the 2024-25 season where he recorded career highs in both goals (9) and points (38) while earning a +19 plus/minus.
The 2024-25 season also saw McCutcheon help the Hurricanes to a WHL Eastern Conference Final appearance. The defencemen appeared in 16 games during Lethbridge's run, finding the back of the net once and totaling seven points. In total, he has appeared in 28 playoff games, recording one goal and 10 points.
