SASKATOON - Two teams headed in opposite directions in the standings will clash this weekend when the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's hockey team, winners of their past ten games, welcome the Manitoba Bisons, who have dropped their past nine games, to Merlis Belsher Place this weekend.
The Huskies will play at home for the first time since Oct. 26, as they mark the end of an undefeated five game road swing.
Saskatchewan currently sits atop of the Canada West with a 11-1 record and enter the weekend ranked as the number two team in the nation.
Meanwhile, Manitoba stand on the opposite end of the spectrum. The Bisons have struggled to pick up wins this season and are currently tied with the Regina Cougars for seventh place in the conference with a 2-9-1 record. The team's last road victory took place on Sep. 29 in Calgary against the Dinos, which will be a script they will be looking to rewrite this weekend in Saskatoon.
5 Things
1: The Huskies are undefeated in ten consecutive games, their longest regular season streak since the 2005-06 season.
2:
Levi Cable picked up his Canada West leading third game winning goal of the season on Saturday night against Mount Royal to clinch the series sweep for Saskatchewan.
3: The clash will begin a four game home-stand for the Huskies, as they will take on the defending national champion Alberta Golden Bears on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1 at Merlis Belsher Place.
4: Saskatchewan won three of their four games against Manitoba last season, with their lone loss occurring on the road in a 4-3 overtime defeat
5: The Bisons have lost nine consecutive games, with their last victory coming on Oct. 12 against the Alberta Golden Bears.

Scouting the Bisons
Manitoba is currently in danger of missing the postseason for the first-time since the 2006-07 season. The Bisons finished third in the Canada West regular season in 2017-18, before bowing out to the Mount Royal Cougars in the conference's quarter-finals. Manitoba will be banking on a big second half to ensure their streak of 11 straight postseason appearances lives on.
Former Saskatoon Blades captian Nick Zajac currently leads the Bisons in points, as the third-year forward has picked up two goals and seven assists through 12 games.
First-year forward Keaton Jamerson sits tied for fifth in rookie scoring in the Canada West. The freshman from Brandon, MB has tallied one goal and six assists this season.
Goaltender Byron Spriggs has started nine of the Bisons games this year, and currently sports a 1-7-1 record with a 4.15 goals against average and a 0.889 save percentage.
