Hat Tricks Highlight Huskies' 8-1 Rout of Trinity Western

SASKATOON, Sask. — The Saskatchewan Huskies erupted for eight goals and outshot the Trinity Western Spartans 61-30 en route to a commanding 8-1 victory on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 7) at Merlis Belsher Place.

The Huskies controlled play from the opening faceoff and struck first at 4:37 of the opening period when Alex Bernauer finished a setup from Logan Bairos and Tyson Yaremko for his first career Canada West score. Just over two minutes later, Liam Keeler converted on the power play to double the lead before adding his second of the night at even strength midway through the frame.

After Mikhailo Simchuk briefly got Trinity Western on the board, the Huskies restored their three-goal cushion less than 30 seconds later when Braxton Buckberger found the back of the net. Saskatchewan carried a 4-1 advantage into the first intermission after outshooting the Spartans 27-9.

The Huskies continued to press in the second period. Bernauer scored his second goal of the afternoon at 5:18 before Keeler completed his hat trick on the power play later in the frame. Assisted by Jaydon Dureau and Landon Kosior, the goal gave Saskatchewan a 6-1 lead and marked Keeler's second power-play tally of the game.

Saskatchewan put the game completely out of reach in the third period with a pair of goals just 20 seconds apart. Logan Bairos scored his third goal of the season off a feed from Tyler Parr and Ashton Ferster, before Bernauer completed his own hat trick moments later with help from Braxton Buckberger.

The Huskies received a strong performance between the pipes from Bryan Thomson, who turned aside 29 of 30 shots to earn the victory. Saskatchewan's special teams also played a key role, scoring twice on six power-play opportunities while limiting Trinity Western to 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Keeler and Bernauer each recorded hat tricks as the Huskies generated 61 shots on goal and improved on a dominant offensive evening that saw contributions throughout the lineup.

Saskatchewan now heads to their first bye week of the 2026-27 season before returning to MBP to take on the Manitoba Bisons.
