Huskie Men’s Hockey Adds Former WHL Forward Tyson Yaremko

SASKATOON, Sask. - The University of Saskatchewan Huskie Men's Hockey team and head coach Brandin Cote announced today the signing of former WHL forward Tyson Yaremko.

"Tyson is a dynamic local player with a complete 200‑foot game," said Cote. "His skating ability, offensive skillset, and versatility allow him to impact the game in every situation. We're excited to add a high‑character Saskatoon product who will strengthen our group immediately."

"It's going to be awesome [being back in Saskatoon]," said Yaremko. "It has been a while since I got to play in front of family and friends so I'm really looking forward to [playing with the Huskies]."

A 6-foot forward and local Saskatoon product, Yaremko joins the Huskies from the WHL's Red Deer Rebels where he appeared in 26 games after being traded from the Portland Winterhawks at the deadline. Taking the ice in 21 regular season and 5 playoff games for the Rebels, Yaremko totaled 7 goals and 12 points.

Prior to the trade which sent him to Red Deer, Yaremko was a member of the Winterhawks for three seasons from 2023 to 2026. He appeared in 105 regular season games, recording 20 goals and 47 points and a +5 plus-minus. While in Portland, he also took the ice in 18 playoff games, recording 2 goals, 3 points, and helping the Winterhawks to a WHL Championship appearance in 2023-24.

During his time with Portland, Yaremko reached career highs in both goals (14) and points (30) in 2024-25 which saw him appear in 35 games and earn a +6 plus/minus.

Yaremko joins a 2026 Huskie Men's Hockey class which includes former NCAA and SJHL forward Jaeden Mercier.
