SASKATOON, Sask. - The University of Saskatchewan Huskie Men's Hockey team and head coach
Brandin Cote announced today the signing of former ECHL forward Conner Roulette.
"We are really excited to add a dynamic offensive talent like Conner to our program," said Cote. "Coming off an impressive season in the ECHL and a 108-point year with Spokane before that, he will bring a high level of skill and maturity to our lineup. We're looking forward to supporting him as he continues his development and pursues his education here at USask."
"I'm really excited [to be joining the Huskies], it's going to be really fun to play with some old teammates again," said Roulette. "It wasn't too hard of a decision [signing with USask]. Knowing the program, getting to talk to [head coach Brandin] 'Cotes', and obviously getting a lot of feedback from players like [Josh] Pillar and [Chase] Bertholet they made that decision a lot easier. Then getting a tour of Merlis Belsher [Place] to see what they have to offer first hand, the facility, the dressing room, the effort they put into developing players and creating a good culture, it's all just top class."
A 6-foot forward from Winnipeg, Roulette joins the reigning Canada West Champions from the ECHL's Tulsa Oilers, where he appeared in 59 regular season games in 2024-25. A skilled playmaker with a knack for finding the back of the net, he totaled 34 points and 17 goals, both high among team rookies. As a result, he was named the Oilers Rookie of the Year in addition to the team's Fan Favourite in 2024-25.
A fourth-round pick in the 2021 NHL draft to the Dallas Stars, he spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League prior to his ECHL career. Suiting up for the Seattle Thunderbirds (2019-22), Saskatoon Blades (2022-23), and Spokane Chiefs (2023-24), he recorded 288 career regular season points, including a breakout 2023-24 campaign with the Chiefs in which he recorded 108 points (45 goals, 63 assists), finished 6th in conference scoring, and was named a U.S. Division Second Team All-Star.
Roulette also becomes the second current Huskie with a 100-point WHL season on their resume, joining former Blades captain
Trevor Wong who finished the 2023-24 season just seven points back of the newest Huskie. He also reunites with a former linemate from his time with the Chiefs in
Chase Bertholet, who totaled 71 points while playing alongside Roulette.
In addition to 259 regular season contests, Roulette also brings 46 WHL games of postseason experience which includes a 2021-22 run to the WHL Championship with the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Outside of his major junior career he has also represented Canada twice on the international stage. The first came in 2019 where he donned the red and white of Team Canada at the U17 World Hockey Challenge and appeared in four games recording two goals. The following year he returned to Team Canada for the 2020 IIHF World U18 Championships, where he took the ice for seven contests and totaled five points (2 goals, 3 assists) while helping the Canucks to a gold medal finish.
