Former Huskie Defender Parker Gavlas Signs with ECHL's Norfolk Admirals

NORFOLK, Virginia - Last week, 2025 Canada West Champion and U SPORTS Bronze Medalist Parker Gavlas inked a standard player contract (SPC) with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL. The Admirals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets and AHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, head into the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs ranked No. 3 in the North Division Semifinals and are set to take on the Wheeling Nailers in a best-of-seven series.

Since joining the Admirals on April 5th, Gavlas has appeared in five games to help Norfolk close out the 2024-25 regular season, recording one shot, two penalty minutes, and -1 plus/minus in a stretch that has seen the Admirals post a 3-2-0 record.
Gavlas joins the Admirals following a fantastic 2024-25 season with the Huskies in which the 6-foot-4 blueliner appeared in 26 games during the regular season and helped the Dogs to the 12th Canada West Championship in program history. After recording seven points (1 goal, 6 assists) and a plus/minus of +8 in 26 regular season contests, he continued his impressive year in the playoffs, totaling 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) on the way to a conference banner. On the national stage, Gavlas then helped the Dogs to their first medal finish since 2016-17 at the 2025 University Cup. The Saskatoon product played a key role for the Huskies all season long, logging crucial minutes while playing alongside defensive partner Ty Prefontaine

He closes out his Saskatchewan career having played 63 regular season games and recording 15 points (2 goals, 13 assists). In the postseason, he played 12 contests, earning 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists).

Prior to his career in green & white, Gavlas spent three seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL), suiting up for the Regina Pats, Edmonton Oil Kings, and Medicine Hat Tigers. In 123 games, he recorded 37 points (6 goals, 31 assists).

Gavlas and the Admirals drop the puck on their postseason Wednesday (Apr. 16) at home against the Wheeling Nailers.
