MHKY: Huskies Fall in Double Overtime to Top Ranked Dinos

Box Score SASKATOON, SK – With strong offensive showings from both the Saskatchewan Huskies and the Calgary Dinos, tonight's game at Merlis Belsher Place would head into double overtime, with the Dinos nabbing the OT goal and taking the night 5-4 over the Huskies. 
 
The loss keeps Saskatchewan at fourth place in the Canada West standings and a 10-4-3 record, while the Calgary Dinos maintain first place with a 14-3-0 record. 
 
Opening scoring in the first period would be the Huskies, as Jaxan Kaluski nabbed his tenth goal of the season on the power play. Mark Runsey and Chantz Petruic would grab the assist on the goal. The rest of the period belonged to the Dinos, as Jaeger White would slip one past Saskatchewan's goaltender Roddy Ross at 16:12, followed closely by Bradley Schoonbaert at 18:07. The period would end with the Dinos leading 2-1.
 
The second period was dominated by the Huskies, who would grab three goals to put the Dogs up 4-2. Mark Rumsey would grab the first of the period at 4:18 with the assists from Jaxan Kaluski and Liam Keeler. Midway through the period would see Jared Dmytriw with the short-handed goal, scoring his twelfth of the season, followed by Connor Hobbs' powerplay goal at 17:19.
 
The Huskies had a comfortable 4-2 lead to start the third period but the Dinos would not let off the gas. At 14:39, Calgary's Arjun Antwal would score his first goal of the season unassisted to bring the game within one. Less than a minute later at 15:20, Riley Stotts would add add the equalizer and tie the game at 4-4. 
 
Overtime would see both teams in the hunt for the net, but with no real scoring opportunities, the game would move into a second overtime period. Calgary would seal the deal at 1:10 into the period with Jake Gricius' unassisted goal to take the 5-4 win. 
 
In net for the Huskies tonight was Roddy Ross, who saved 22 of 27 for the Dogs but was unable to keep the Dinos out during double overtime. Calgary's Carl Tetachuk would be in net for the entire game for the Dinos, stopping 25 of 29 shots for the Dinos.
