SASKATOON – Recording a point in their last four-consecutive games, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women's soccer team will look to stay hot as they prepare for a home-and-home set against the Regina Cougars this weekend.
Â
Hosting the Cougars on Friday at 2:00 p.m., the Huskies will then head down the road for the return leg on Saturday at noon.
Â
With a pair of wins and a pair of ties in their last four games, Saskatchewan enters the weekend vying for not just the right to host in the playoffs but also a Prairie Division title. The Huskies currently sit at a record of 5-2-3, giving them 18 points on the season with four games left to play. The Alberta Pandas are level with Saskatchewan on 18 points, but hold a game in hand. Not far ahead of those teams are the division-leading MacEwan Griffins, who enter the weekend with 20 points.
Â
Trying to track down that lead back are the Cougars, who hold a record of 3-4-3 and are firmly in possession of fifth place.
Â
These teams met twice last season with the Huskies recording identical 1-0 victories thanks to goals from
Payton Izsak and
Kalli Cowles.
