SASKATOON, Sask. - A total of five new faces are featured in the 2026 edition of the Huskie Women's Soccer recruiting class. One forward, two midfielders, and two defenders will join the Huskies ahead of the latest Canada West season, which is set to officially kick off on Saturday, September 5 when the Dogs head to Edmonton to take on the Alberta Pandas.

"Overall, we're very excited about this recruiting class," said Huskie Women's Soccer Head Coach Jerson Barandica-Hamilton. "We have a smaller recruiting class because we focus on positional needs over just general numbers, but we feel every player that's coming in is coming in with a really good playing profile of what we look for and more importantly the character and values of what our program stands for."

Why did you choose to commit to Huskie Women's Soccer?
"Deciding to move away from home was a difficult decision to make, but joining the Huskies made that choice feel much easier. I fell in love with the sense of belonging I got with the team, and the encouragement for athletic excellence from an amazing coach."

What do you hope to bring to the program?
"As a player, I value strong culture and hard work. I hope to bring reliability to my teammates, and a positive attitude on and off the field. I'm excited to be able to contribute to such an amazing program and create a new home for myself as a Huskie."

Quote from the coach:
"We like Raeleigh's technical ability, her mindset to want to join, shes very aggressive to jump and intercept and anticipate. She's another athlete that we feel fits really well into our playing style and someone that we know will continue to grow with our program. We are excited to also see her grow as a person and continue to learn what it means to be a Huskie"

Ashlyn Kane

Height: 5'7"
Hometown: Saskatoon, SK
High School: Bishop James Mahoney
Club Team: Saskatoon Alliance and Junior Huskies

Why did you choose to commit to Huskie Women's Soccer?
"Growing up in the Junior Huskies program, I was surrounded by the culture of the Huskie women's soccer team. I got to see the behind the scenes of the commitment, high standards, close relationships, and community involvement that make the program so special. Getting to watch those players like Anna Oliver and Taryn Izsak gave me something to aspire to and motivated me to work toward becoming a Huskie. Committing to Huskies felt right, knowing it's an environment that will challenge me, push me to be a better player and person, all while sticking close to the community who had a huge impact on who I am today. Having the opportunity to walk into our team room daily and be surrounded by girls who make me want to be a better human was the "it factor" for me."

What do you hope to bring to the program?
"I want to bring a strong work ethic, determination, and a willingness to do anything the team needs from me to succeed. I hope to be the player who's able to push my teammates on the field but also be a shoulder to lean on off the field. Throughout my journey I have learned that success comes from the standards you hold yourself to daily, and perseverance is what allows you to maintain it through the setbacks. I want to bring the mindset of embracing growth and the importance of staying disciplined."

Quote from the coach:
"Ashlyn is a very powerful, physical and athletic player and has a high level of fitness. She reminds me a lot of [former Huskie captain] Anna Oliver, with really similar qualities in terms of her leadership and playing abilities. A captain for her youth team, and a leader who knows what our program's all about and our standards. So, we're very excited about seeing her and her growth to come over the next 5 years."

Emma Kluth

Position:
Striker
Height: 5'3"
Hometown: Surrey, BC
High School: Seaquam Secondary School
Club Team: Costal FC
Athletic Awards/Achievements:
Seaquam Secondary Schol Senior Girls Soccer MVP (2024)
Team of the Year Costal FC (2026)

Why did you choose to commit to Huskie Women's Soccer?
"As soon as I came for my first visit, I knew that this was where I wanted to be. The coaching staff and the players were so supportive and welcoming from the start, and I knew this was a place where I would grow as a player and a person. I love the competitive training environment that pushes you to constantly challenge yourself."

What do you hope to bring to the program?
"I hope to bring a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the willingness to learn every day. I'll always support my teammates and do whatever I can to help the team succeed. I'm excited to contribute to a competitive team environment, and to be a part of such an amazing program."

Quote from the coach:
"We're very excited about Emma's ability as a striker to continue to grow and learn. We feel that she's kind of an athlete that flew under the radar in BC and is a late developer, and we've had a lot of success recruiting these types of players. She's a very good player playing with her back towards the net, so she knows how to play off defenders and be a connector. She has very similar tendencies and skill sets like Cheyenne [Lehmann] does, so we like that. She's also becoming more and more intelligent with her movement off the ball and her ability to finish.  Her effectiveness of finishing her actions has been very, very good as of late. So, we're very excited about her."

Charley Petruskavich

Position:
Centreback/Holding Midfield
Height: 5'7"
Hometown: Winnipeg, MB
High School: John Taylor Collegiate
Club Team: AK Soccer Academy
Athletic Awards/Achievements:
Captain, Team Manitoba, Canada Summer Games (2025)
AK Soccer Academy U17 Girls MVP (2025)
Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) Cup Provincial Champion (2025)
Bronze, Toyota Youth National Championship (2025)
Manitoba Soccer Association Player of the Year (2025)

Why did you choose to commit to Huskie Women's Soccer?
"I chose the Huskies because it immediately felt like a home away from home. The team made me feel super comfortable and welcomed from day 1 and the coaching staff is amazing, they are able to give 1 on 1 feedback to help improve my game and they always want to see us succeed not just on the field as players but off the field as people and I think that's super important."

What do you hope to bring to the program?
"I hope to bring a strong work ethic, and a competitive mindset to the program. I want to be a player that my teammates can rely on, whether that's supporting others or doing whatever is needed to help the team succeed. I also hope to continue growing as a player and contribute to a positive team culture/environment both on and off the field."

Quote from the coach:
"We feel that Charley's passing range and her ability to connect passes out of the back is very, very good. She's a bit versatile. She can play as a center back or as a defensive mid. We feel that she's someone that's going to come in and grow as the program continues to evolve. She's a great person who wants to learn and is always eager to take feedback and continue to grow."

Hazel Turnbull

Position:
Right Wing/Right Fullback
Height: 5'9"
Hometown: Saskatoon, SK
High School: Walter Murray Collegiate

Graduating Female Athlete of the Year, Walter Murray Collegiate (2025)
    Prairie Soccer League Champion (2024)

Why did you choose to commit to Huskie Women's Soccer?
"The Huskie Women's Soccer Program has been a program that I have aspired to since I was young. It is a program that was always full of role models that I looked up to. I decided to commit to Huskies because they are a team that encourages strong development of their own players not only through the sport but through giving back to the community as well."

What do you hope to bring to the program?
"Something I want to bring to the program is being a reliable teammate on and off the field!"

Quote from the coach:
"Hazel is a player that has grown immensely over the last nine months. She's a very modern attacking fullback that has the physical attributes to both get up and overlap and get into attacking positions but also recover defensively in transition and help defend spaces in behind our backline. She's also an athlete that knows our expectations and standards from being involved with our Junior Huskies program, so we're really excited about her."
