SASKATOON, Sask. -
Easton Thimm and
Mohamed Mahadhi will be trading in the Physical Activity Complex for the SaskTel Centre and Merlis Belsher Place this summer, as the pair were announced to be joining the Saskatoon Mamba for the 2026 season as part of the Canadian Elite Basketball League's (CEBL) signing day.
Just two weeks ago the CEBL, along with U SPORTS and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), announced the new format to bring the country's best intercollegiate talent to the CEBL, which is set to officially replace the CEBL Draft. As a result, two student-athletes per team will be announced, with the possibility of more signings as the season approaches.
For
Easton Thimm, this will mark his second consecutive season with the club after the local Saskatoon product was also selected in the third round (23rd overall) of the 2025 CEBL draft by the then Saskatchewan Rattlers. In the 2025 season, Thimm appeared in just one game, logging seven minutes and recording two points, one rebound, and one assist.
Since joining the Huskies ahead of the 2023-24 season, the Holy Cross High School product has been a mainstay of the USask starting five. In 59 career contests he has averaged 28.5 minutes, 13.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and owns a 54.5 career field goal percentage. A 6-foot-9 forward, he averaged 9.8 points and 8.4 rebounds his rookie season on his way to being named the Canada West Rookie of the Year and earning a spot on the U SPORTS All-Rookie team. This past year in his junior season, Thimm put together a remarkable individual campaign finishing first in the nation in rebounding and averaging a double-double per game with 16.4 points and 12.3 rebounds before being recognized as a conference All-Star.
Mohamed Mahadhi meanwhile is set to join the Mamba following his debut season in green & white. A 6-foot-1 guard and transfer from Central Wyoming College (NJCAA), Mahadhi played a key role in the Huskie backcourt in 2025-26. Appearing in all 20 games and starting 19, the sophomore and local Saskatoon product recorded 10.5 points per game while averaging 2.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists per game, and shooting an efficient 41.6% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc.
The pair add to a long list of former USask student-athletes to suit up for the club, joining former Huskies Alexander Dewar, Tyrese Potoma, Chan De Ciman, Shane Osayande, and Michael Linklater.
Thimm, Mahadhi, and the rest of the Saskatoon Mamba will tip-off the 2026 season at home on Thursday, May 14 when they play host to the Vancouver Bandits at the SaskTel Centre.
