SASKATOON, Sask. – Another member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies is set to join the Saskatoon Mamba for the 2026 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The club announced Thursday (Apr. 16) that Huskie Head Coach
Jamie Campbell will join the staff as an assistant coach.
"I am grateful to Isaiah [Fox] and the Mamba organization for this tremendous opportunity. I am looking forward to welcoming the guys to the city and to working with them to get the season started," said Campbell via saskatoonmamba.ca.
Campbell was announced to the coaching staff alongside a pair of former Huskies in Greg Jockims, who served as head coach from 1998 to 2010, and Rob Lovelace who enjoyed a standout career as a student-athlete from 2001 to 2008.
Since taking over the reigns as head coach of the University of Saskatchewan Men's Basketball program ahead of the 2022-23 season, Campbell has amassed a record of 26-54. His best season as the Dogs' bench boss came in 2023-24, when he guided the team to an 11-9 record and Canada West playoff berth.
Campbell has produced three conference All-Stars during his tenure and in 2023-24 saw forward
Easton Thimm take home Canda West Rookie of the Year honours and a spot on the U SPORTS All-Rookie team.
Prior to his position with the Huskies, Campbell served as the technical director of Ontario Basketball and was a member of the OUA's Carleton Ravens coaching staff where he helped the team to a pair of U SPORTS National Championships in 2019 and 2020. He has also held positions with Team Ontario, Canada Basketball's Junior Academy, and the Laurier Golden Hawks.
His appointment to the Mamba staff will also mark his second position in the CEBL after previously serving as an assistant with the Ottawa BlackJacks in 2020.
"We are incredibly proud to see Coach Campbell take this opportunity to gain additional coaching perspectives at the professional level, furthering his own development and the growth of our Huskie program," said USask Chief Athletics Officer
Shannon Chinn. "This not only continues to build upon our strong relationship with the Mamba, but also reinforces a clear pathway for our student-athletes to play professionally in the CEBL."
Campbell becomes the third member of the Huskie Men's Basketball program to join the Mamba, joining current student-athletes
Easton Thimm and Mohamed Mahadhi who joined the club as part of the revamped CEBL Signing Day just last week.
The Mamba officially open the 2026 CEBL season on Thursday, May 14 when the team hosts the Vancouver Bandits at the SaskTel Centre. For the official Saskatoon Mamba release, head to
