TORONTO, Ont. – Thursday morning (Apr. 23), the Canadian Football League (CFL) announced another nine U SPORTS quarterbacks from across the nation who are set to be provided the opportunity to take part in CFL Rookie Camps and Training Camps as part of the league's QB Internship program.
Among those featured in the 2026 class of pivots was Huskie Football's
Jake Farrell, who will join the Grey Cup Champion Saskatchewan Roughriders in a few weeks' time.
Launched in 2010, the CFL QB Internship provides young, U SPORTS quarterbacks the opportunity to join CFL clubs in the lead up to the regular season to further develop their skills, participate in practices, and attend team and positional meetings.
Farrell, who will enter his third season of eligibility in the fall, will be staying close to home this summer with the Roughriders set to return to Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park for camp next month. The 2025 season saw the local Saskatoon product take over starting duties in week 6 of the campaign before throwing for 647 yards and eight touchdowns while leading the Huskies to a 3-0 record to close out the regular season.
In the postseason, Farrell averaged 237.5 yards per game while throwing for five majors as the business major helped the Huskies to the program's 22nd Hardy Cup title, Mitchell Bowl victory and appearance in the 60th Vanier Cup.
CFL Rookie camps get underway May 6 with training camp running through to the end of the month.
Fans looking to catch a glimpse of the 2026 edition of the Saskatchewan Roughriders can stop by Griffiths Stadium to take in camp. The Grey Cup Champions will also take the field at Griffiths for the club's first preseason game in Saskatoon since 1991 when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit on Saturday, May 23.
