WINDSOR, Ont. - After a year of missing out on the national podium, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies are back after capturing bronze at the 2025 U SPORTS Track & Field Championships in Windsor.
The Huskie women earned an additional three medals on the final day, bringing their point total to 74 in the team standings with a 16 point cushion on the host Windsor Lancers who finished fourth. The Western Mustangs captured the national title on both the men's and women's side, totaling 139 points in the men's standings and 119 in the women's. The Guelph Gryphons earned silver on both sides with identical 85 point totals.
On the men's side, Saskatchewan finished 22nd, with six points in the team standings.

The final day of the 2025 U SPORTS Championships saw the Huskies capture two silver medals in the relays, solidifying a medal in each relay event of the weekend.
In the 4x200m relay, the Saskatchewan women's team of
Grace Igbiki,
Paige Willems,
Hannah Hagerty, and
Selena Keyowski combined for a time of 1:36.67 to capture silver, besting the Laval Rouge et Or by over two seconds. The Dogs crossed the finish line just over three tenths behind the Guelph Gryphons who took gold.
Just over an our later the Huskies were once again on the podium in a relay event, repeating with a silver medal performance in the women's 4x400m. Igbiki, Willems,
Sarah Schwab, and
Avery Pearson crossed the finish line with a time of 3:41.60, just 17 hundredths of a second behind the Gryphons in first.
The first medal of the day came from the women's 600m, where standut middle distance runner
Avery Pearson earned her second individual medal of the weekend. Pearson recorded a time of 1:29.02 to take silver in the event. The second place finish marked her third consecutive medal finish in the 600m.
Eight Huskies captueed All-Canadian status over the weekend, with gold medal finishes receiving First Team honours while silver medalists earn Second Team recognition.
