28 Current, Future & Former Huskies to Represent USask at 2026 Canadian Track & Field Championships

OTTAWA, Ont. – The University of Saskatchewan (USask) Track & Field team will once again be well represented on the national stage later this week with 28 current, future and former student-athletes set to compete at the 2026 Canadian Track & Field Championships, presented by Bell. Competing in a wide range of events at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility in the nation's capital, 15 current student-athletes, six incoming recruits, and seven alumni are aiming to take their place among the best in Canadian athletics.

"Seeing incoming, current, and past Huskies competing on the national stage is always a point of pride for the program," said Huskie Track & Field Head Coach Jason Reindl. "This is the pinnacle event for Track and Field in the country and seeing our Huskies and alumni compete is always exciting."

In addition to serving as the nation's championship meet, the 2026 Canadian Track & Field Championships are part of the qualification process for the 2026 World U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon from August 5-9, 2026, and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland set to take place July 23-August 2, 2026.

Of the 28 competing in Ottawa, 13 will be competing in the senior division while 15 are set to show their skills in the U20 division.

Highlighting the future of the Huskie Men's Track & Field team are current student-athlete Nathan Pinno (Fort Saskatchewan, AB) and incoming recruit Jackson Tuplin (Swift Current, SK).

Pinno is coming off a fantastic 2026 season in which the soon-to-be third-year Huskie finished first in three of four events during the regular season before securing a Canada West title in shot put at the conference championships.

Competing in the senior shot put, the arts & science major enters the weekend ranked third in the nation with a best throw of 16.83m.

Additional current student-athletes headed to Ottawa include 2026 Canada West silver medalist Williams Ogunnubi (Senior 100m & 200m), Matthew Baker (U20 100m & 200m), Tiago Dimande (Senior 200m & 100m hurdles), Preston Dodge (U20 3000m & 5000m), Kendyl Dziadyk (Senior 100m hurdles), Jocelyn Hanson (Senior High Jump), Michael Hussey (Senior 800m), Niklos Irwin (U20 800m), Jaedyn McLaughlin (U20 400m), Geovanne Powell (Senior 100m & 200m), Rowan Reimer (U20 400m & 400m hurdles), Brodies Steeves (U20 200m & 400m), Petra Tymko (U20 800m & 1500m), and Parker Zacharias (U20 400m & 800m).

Incoming recruit Jackson Tuplin, who will compete in the U20 decathlon, also enters the championships ranked among the best in his respective event. After achieving a score of 6,190 points at the Calgary Spring Challenge last month, the future Huskie ranks second.

Tuplin is joined by Harrison Grant (U20 400m & 400m hurdles), Jersey Lang (U20 800m & 1500m), Brody McDonald (U20 400m & 800m), Luke Brook (U20 High Jump, Long Jump, & Triple Jump) and Carter Tuplin (Senior 400m hurdles) as future Huskies competing.

Of the former Huskies set to appear at the championships, three-time Canadian Champion and 2024 Olympian Michelle Harrison headlines the group. Harrison is set to make her return to national competition after taking off the 2025 season to have her first child, whose birthday she celebrated just days ahead of the meet. An eight-time All-Canadian during her time as a Huskie, she has shown strong improvement over the 2026 outdoor season, ranking fourth in the 100m hurdles, and is expected to challenge for a podium finish.

Other alumni the Huskies are proud to see build on the incredible foundation they built at USask include Hailee Woodhouse, who put together a remarkable rookie campaign in 2026, setting national records and collecting both U SPORTS and Canada West medals on her way to being named the national Rookie of the Year. Woodhouse enters the weekend ranked second among U20 athletes in both the 200m and 400m.

Avery Pearson and Alyssa Mathieson fall into the same category of alumni as Woodhouse, with the program looking forward to watching them continue their athletic journeys after achieving success in green & white. The pair are also both ranked among the best at their respective events with Pearson sitting third in the senior 800m and Mathieson fourth in the U20 high jump.

Other alumni competing include Grace Igbiki (Senior 200m & 400m), Julianne Labach (Senior 800m), and Jennifer Weber (Senior Shot Put).

Finally, while not a member of the Huskie Track & Field team, the Huskies would like to recognize Claire Norek. A current education student at USask, Norek is set to compete in the seated shot put & discus events.
