CALGARY, Alta. - Saturday afternoon the Huskie Cross Country team headed west to Alberta for the annual Stewart Cup. Both the men's and women's races saw a hilly, 8km race with six Canada West schools taking part in the women's race and seven in the men's.
Ranked ninth in the U SPORTS national rankings, the Saskatchewan women's team put on an strong performance, finishing two runners in the top ten in the individual race, and earning fourth in the team race. The Stewart Cup marked another impressive performance by the Dogs this season, who finished in first place in the Dakota Classic at the Whitecap Dakota First Nation earlier this season.
Kaitlyn Harrison led the way for the Huskies, crossing the finish line in fourth place overall and third among conference competition with a time of 27:20.9. She was followed closely by
Jenica Swartz, who finished in 10th place overall (9th in CW) at 28:15.0.

In the team standings it was the uVic Vikes who earned top spot on the podium followed by the UBC Thunderbirds in second and UBCO Heat in third.Â

The men's team meanwhile also earned a 4th place finish with two runners in the top 10.
Quincy Fast finished ninth with a time of 24:03.2 as the Dogs' top finisher and was followed by teammate
Alexander Webster in 10th who crossed the finish line with a time of 24:09.3.Â
Similarly to the women's team standings, it was uVic who took first place followed by UBC in second. The Trinity Western Spartans would round out the podium in third.Â
