The University of Saskatchewan Huskies officially began competing in national interuniversity competition in men's cross country in 1964-65. The sport was incepted into the Canada West Universities Athletic Association as a sport for both men and women when the conference was formed in 1971-72. A national title for women was established in 1980-81.
