Wrestling:

Huskie wrestling is set to battle it out with the best in the west this coming weekend when they head to the Calgary for the Canada West championship. Last year the women claimed their second-straight conference team title while the men finished a close second to the Alberta Golden Bears. So far this year positive results at a number of meets have sent the women to a second-place ranking in the nation while the men are third.

A bye through the quarter-finals and the right to host a semifinal series in Merlis Belsher Place in on the line this weekend as the Huskies play a home-and-home set with the Regina Cougars. Playing in Regina Friday night before returning to Saskatoon Saturday, the Huskies will honour their eight fifth-year players as they try and track down the Calgary Dinos who are one point ahead of them for second place in the conference.

With a spot in the conference semifinals already sewn up, the Huskies will aim to finish the season building on their nine game winning-streak and potentially claiming top spot in the conference for the second season in a row. Saskatchewan is currently tied atop the Canada West standings with the Alberta Golden Bears on 42 points, although Alberta holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. Playing in Saskatoon Friday night before heading to Regina on Saturday, the Huskies will wrap up their regular season slate looking to win their final 11 games in a row.

Looking to rebound on home court, the Huskies – who have clinched a playoff spot for the first time in 18 years – will play their final home games of 2019-20 this weekend. It will be a tight battle between a 12-8 Huskies' squad and a 14-6 Pandas team as the race for playoff positioning heats up with just four games left to play.

A chance to clinch a post-season berth is on the table this weekend when the Huskies host the Golden Bears inside the PAC. Saskatchewan, who is 9-9 on the year after splitting with the Mount Royal Cougars last weekend, will be in tough against the second-place Golden Bears (16-4). Saskatchewan is currently seventh in the conference, one game clear of eighth-place Mount Royal and two ahead of the Manitoba Bisons with four games left to play.

Following their weekend sweep of the UBC Okanagan Heat, the Huskies will play their final regular season games of 2019-20 in Edmonton. The games will be a potential semifinal preview as the RPI standings currently have the Huskies second and the Pandas third. Alberta will come into the weekend riding high after splitting a home-and-home with the Calgary Dinos last weekend.

Another weekend, another critical matchup for the Huskies, who will end their season with a pair of games against the first place Alberta Golden Bears. Already assured of a spot in the playoffs, the Huskies are currently tied for sixth in the conference with a record of 12-6. It won't be an easy slate this weekend as Alberta comes into the weekend riding a 12-game winning streak.
 
Track & Field:

In their final tune-up before hosting the Canada West championships, track & field will head to Edmonton this weekend for the Panda Challenge. With positive results from meets throughout the winter semester, this weekend offers one last chance for the Huskies to impress before they embark upon their double conference title defence.
