Lalor named to All-World Team at Women's Baseball World Cup

SASKATOON - Kelsey Lalor is no stranger to playing sport at the highest level.

The third-year women's basketball player, fresh off of a trip to the U SPORTS final with the Huskies in the spring, is coming home with an international medal this time after helping Baseball Canada to a bronze medal at the Women's Basketball World Cup in Florida.

Lalor was a standout for Canada at the tournament, hitting .346 with a homerun, three stolen bases and a .990 OPS to earn a spot on the tournament All-World team.

The medal isn't Lalor's first with Canada. The Red Deer, Alberta, native has played with Baseball Canada since 2013, winning silver at the World Cup in 2016 just one year after picking up a silver at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.

Lalor's best moment during the 2018 championship may have come during Canada's 9-6 win over Australia, when she laid out to make a stellar grab in left field.

But it's hard to pick just one moment for the 20-year-old, who followed up her performance against Australia with a home run and a triple against the Dominican Republic to finish with three RBIs.

Canada beat the USA 8-5 to claim the bronze medal. Japan won gold in the tournament, beating out Tapei in the final.
