Five Members of National Champion Huskies to Represent USask at FISU America 3x3 Tournament

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. – The University of Saskatchewan (USask) will be represented on the international stage next month, as five members of the back-to-back National Champion Huskie women's basketball team set to don green & white at the FISU America 3x3 Tournament in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, U SPORTS announced Tuesday morning (Apr. 28).

Téa DeMong, Maya Flindall, Ella Murphy Wiebe, and Logan Reider will make up the Huskie squad headed to Honduras, with Lead Assistant Coach Laura Dally joining the quartet.

The FISU America 3x3 Tournament serves as a premier qualifier for the FISU World University Cup Championships, which will take place this fall.

In addition to the Huskies, the Carleton Ravens will also represent Canada and U SPORTS in Honduras, having automatically qualified for the tournament as the reigning World University Cup champions.

For DeMong and Murphy Wiebe, the opportunity to play on the USask 3x3 team provides one last chance to don green & white and represent the Huskies, as both have exhausted their U SPORTS eligibility following the 2025-26 season.

The 2026 Final 8 Championship MVP, Murphy Wiebe averaged 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 53.5% from the field, before recording 55 points, 34 rebounds and a 57.1 field goal percentage on the national stage. DeMong, meanwhile, started all 25 regular season and playoff games in 2025-26, averaging 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while finishing third in Canada West with 50 steals.

For Flindall and Reider, the tournament offers an opportunity to extend their championship momentum into the before returning to campus in the fall to lead the Huskies in their title defence.

During the 2025-26 season, Findall earned her first conference All-Star nod after finishing the regular season as one of the most efficient scorers in Canada West, shooting a 48.1 field goal percent from the field and 37.2 from three-point range while averaging 15.1 points per game. Averaging an identical 15.1 points per game, Reider was another key contributor to the Huskies' title run, highlighted by a 19-point performance in the championship game.

For Huskie Lead Assistant Coach Laura Dally, the event will mark her second international competition on the sidelines, following her Team Canada coaching debut with the 2025 U19 Women's Basketball World Cup team. Dally previously represented Basketball Canada as a member of junior, development and senior teams from 2009 to 2017.

The 2026 FISU America 3x3 Tournament officially gets underway Monday, May 25, with draws and schedules yet to be determined.
