SASKATOON - The University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's basketball team is fresh off back-to-back victories over the Brandon Bobcats this past weekend, and they will be looking to build upon that momentum as they play host to the UNBC Timberwolves.

The Huskies are in the midst of six game home stand, which will be separated by the holiday break. They are winners of three of their past four games and will be looking to continue the climb up the Canada West.

Meanwhile, UNBC will be looking to bounce back after consecutive losses in Abbottsford at the hands of the UFV Cascades. The Timberwolves is currently in a three-way tie for seventh place in the Canada West with a 5-3 record, along with the Regina Cougars and Alberta Golden Bears. UNBC finished with a 6-4 record away from home last season and will be looking to steal a road win in Saskatoon to close out their calendar year in fashion.

The Huskies and Timberwolves last met up last on Feb. 10 and 11 during the 2016-17 season, in Prince George. Saskatchewan won both games handily on the road, as they defeated UNBCÂ 89-59 in the series opener and followed up the victory with a 77-57 win to bring out the seal the sweep.

After falling to the Alberta Golden Bears in last season's Canada West quarter-final, UNBC will be looking to qualify for the postseason for the second consecutive season. The team is loaded with veterans as three of the team's starting five in their fifth year of eligibility.

The Timberwolves are getting to the line more than anyone else in the Canada West besides Lethbridge this season, as their 24.6 free throw attempts per game is second in the conference.

Jovan Leamy led the team in points last season and is carrying UNBC once again in 2018-19 in his fifth year. The Toronto native is averaging 19.6 points per game, while also chipping in 23 steals through eight games, which is third in the Canada West.

Vaggelis Loukas is averaging nearly a double double, as through eight games he is averaging 8.4 points and 9.1 rebounds. His 9.1 rebounds per game is third in the Canada West this season.
