SASKATOON, Sask. - The undefeated and top-ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies extended their winning streak to 46 games Saturday evening (Jan. 24) thanks to a lopsided performance over the No. 7-ranked Calgary Dinos which led to a 77-46 victory. The Huskies, who last suffered a loss in November 2024 to the Dinos, improve to 16-0 on the 2025-26 season and are one of just two undefeated teams remaining in the country (Queen's 17-0). The Dinos meanwhile drop to 12-4 on the season.

The visiting Dinos jumped out to the early lead as they looked to enact some revenge following a 63-44 Friday night loss. However, their early advantage was due in part to a slow start from the Huskies who made just three field goals to fall behind 18-12 after the first. The Calgary lead did not last long though, as the USask defence dominated the second frame, holding the Dinos to just a single field goal while forcing eight turnovers. 

Returning from the break, Saskatchewan's aggressive defence continued to stifle the Dinos as the offence continued to gain momentum. Four Huskies combined for 18 points on 50% shooting in the third, while Calgary was forced to settle for just 30% and 11 points. Finally, in the fourth reigning national player of the year Gage Grassick led a 30-point frame to close out the win and secure a series sweep of the Dinos.

Grassick was one of four Huskies to finish the game in double figures, recording 12 points while Ella Murphy Wiebe and Téa DeMong tied for a game-high 18 and Maya Flindall added 15. Murphy Wiebe, DeMong, and Grassick were also excellent in the paint totaling nine, eight, and seven assists. Calgary was led by Pollyanna Storie and Kourtney Oss who finished the contest with 11 each while Amelie Collin added ten.

The Huskies are back at the Physical Activity Complex this Thursday (Jan. 29) for a heavyweight clash against the 15-1 Regina Cougars, while the Dinos will host the Alberta Pandas in another meeting of Canada West's top teams.
