Seth Huundeby - Presidents' Trophy Winner (Defensive Player of the Year)

Fifth-year linebacker Seth Hundeby becomes the eighth USask student-athlete honoured as a U SPORTS major award winner and just the fourth to be named the top defensive player in the nation.

In just seven regular season games this season Hundeby finished eighth in Canada West in tackles (41.5), first in tackles for a loss (6.0), recorded three sacks, and was the lone player in the conference to total five turnovers in 2025 (3 FF, 2 INT). His performance helped the Huskies to a 7-1 record and the top seed in Canada West.

In the postseason the future Saskatchewan Roughrider has continued to be a key contributor on every down in the middle of the Huskie defence. In three games, Hundeby has totaled 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble, helping the Dogs to a berth in the 60th Vanier Cup.

The engineering major joins former Huskies Nelson Lokombo (2019), Mike Letandre (1999), and Warren Muzika (1998) as the only USask student-athletes to be named the President's Trophy winner.

In addition to being named a major award winner, Hundeby was also named a member of the U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian roster, earning the national recognition for the second consecutive season.

Also earning All-Canadian status for the second year in a row was 2025 Canada West Player of the Year Daniel Wiebe. The fifth-year receiver earned a conference triple crown this season, recording 60 receptions for 926 yards and 11 touchdowns, the most in U SPORTS. In addition to the several accolades he took home this season, Wiebe also set program record for career and single-season receiving touchdowns.

Two other Huskie defensive players were recognized nationally, with fourth-year defensive end Charlie Parks also taking home First Team honours. The Canada West Outstanding Lineman of the Year finished the campaign first in the conference for both sacks (5.0) and tackles for a loss (6.0) while adding 23.0 tackles, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Wrapping up a fantastic season for the Huskie defensive line is Reece McCormick, who was named a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian. McCormick was a force in 2025, recording 2.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for a loss in just six regular season games.
