This weekend the Huskies will make yet another playoff road trip to the west coast, however after facing off the Victoria Vikes in recent playoff appearances, the Dogs will now take on the reigning Canada West and U SPORTS Champion UBC Thunderbirds.

In their title defence season the T-Birds have been a dominant force in Canada West soccer, becoming the first program in conference history to win every game in the regular season, finishing with a 14-0-0 record. Even more impressive is that the team set yet another Canada West record after closing out a flawless regular season with not a single goal against allowed. Offensively the T-Birds biggest threats to score are Ava Alexander and Sienna Gibson, both of who have tallied eight goals on the season. However the team boasts plenty of depth with three other athletes having totaled at least five goals and six having recorded seven or more points.

Fortunately, scoring depth is also a strength of the Huskies. While Danielle Lehmann, Cheyenne Lehmann and Isabelle Lachance lead the team with four scores each, 11 different Huskies have found the back of the net in 2025. Additionally, just four non-keepers on the roster have failed to register a point, showcasing that offence can come from just about anyone on the roster.

Defensively the Huskies have been one of the best teams in the conference having allowed more than one goal against in just two matches, both of which came on opening weekend, and earning five shutouts. Since then, Saskatchewan has allowed the third fewest goals against while holding opponents to limited scoring chances and relying on stout goalkeeping from third-year keeper Julie Snider. Snider was excellent to close out the season, recording three clean sheets and allowing just a single goal, giving the Dogs plenty of confidence in their final defender heading into the postseason.

While it will likely take a monumental effort to leave Vancouver with the win Saturday, the Huskies have all the pieces they need to pull off one of the biggest upsets in Canada West history.
