KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The U SPORTS No. 6-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies hit the century mark for the first time during the 2024-25 season Friday night (Nov. 29) at the Tournament Capital Centre, taking down Thompson Rivers in a 100-28 rout of the Wolfpack.
With the win the Huskies extend their winning streak to five games and improve to 5-2 on the season. The Wolfpack meanwhile drop to 0-9 with one game remaining before the winter break.
The Huskie effort was led by fourth-year forward Téa DeMong, who recorded a game-high 29 points while adding eight rebounds and season-high six steals. DeMong was one of five Saskatchewan student-athletes to record double-digit point totals with
Olivia Harm (16),
Logan Reider (12),
Gage Grassick (11), and
Jordyn Reding following suit. By the final whistle, all but one Huskie who saw the floor got on the scoresheet.
Grassick, who recorded the first regular-season triple-double in Huskie women's basketball history earlier this month, came close to a repeat performance with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists in the win.
Saskatchewan shot lights-out to earn the lopsided road victory, connecting on 38 of 71 field goal attempts in addition to holding the advantage in nearly every statistical category, most notably rebounds (44-22), assists (23-4), turnovers (14-38), and steals (28-9). In four quarters, the Huskies allowed more than 10 points against just once when they gave up 11 in the opening frame before holding TRU to two, eight, and seven in the remaining periods.
The Huskies and Wolfpack return to the court in Kamloops tomorrow for a 6:00 PM CST tipoff. Tune in at
