SASKATOON, SK – After a successful sweep in their home opener weekend the Huskies (3-1-0) welcomed the Thompson Rivers WolfPack (2-3-0) to Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park for their "All Around the World" game. With support from various community organizations, Saskatchewan created a culturally inclusive atmosphere in the park and highlighted talent from around the world.
SSK and TRU matches have historically gone in favor of the Dogs with their 5-0-1 all-time record. This contest proved to delight Huskie fans with a 2-1 victory that brings the team to 4-1-0 on the season.
The first half turned into a defensive battle with neither team adding to the score board. Until early in the second when the transfer,
Nammi Nguyen, opened the scoring with her first goal as a Huskie (51').
Thompson Rivers was quick to respond when their very own Esi Lufo put them on the board in the 54
th minute.
Saskatchewan's solo fifth-year,
Hailey Weber, rounded out the scoring in the 78
th minute in what was ultimately the game winning goal.
