SASKATOON, SK – With the Canada West regular season winding down, the Saskatchewan Huskies (1-7-3) looked to add a win to their record against the Lethbridge Pronghorns (3-4-4)
on a chilly Saturday night at Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park. It was a true defensive battle as the Huskies and the Pronghorns wrapped up the game with a 1-1 tie.
A Saskatchewan foul would lead Lethbridge to the scoreboard early in the first half. Sent out for the penalty kick, fifth-year midfielder Alasdair Coyle fired one past Huskie goalkeeper
Jaron Slopinski in the sixth minute of the game, giving them the 1-0 lead.
Their offence put the pressure on the Huskies all through the first half, but a strong Huskies defence kept them out of net. Lethbridge would end the half with five shots on goal to the Huskies zero.
Saskatchewan's
Diego Reveco had the team's first shot on goal just into the second half that was blocked by Lethbridge's Armaan Thawer. Thirty seconds later,
Ethan Cabral had a great opportunity for the Huskies, running it in from mid-field towards the Lethbridge net, but his shot sailed just wide.
The Huskies evened things out in the 65
th minute.
Diego Reveco took the pass in from the sideline, sending it over to
Ahmed Mohammed who drilled it past Thawer for his first goal of the season.
Saskatchewan's goal would be the end to scoring and teams walked away with a 1-1 tie. Lethbridge had seven shots on goal compared to the three shots on goal from the Huskies.
