SASKATOON – The USask Huskies started off their second half of the season at home this Friday night. The women of Huskie Basketball played host to the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack – putting on a show to finish the contest 90-43 in favour of the Huskies.
The starting line-up for the Huskies consisted of
Gage Grassick,
Logan Reider,
Carly Ahlstrom, Tea DeMong, and
Kyla Shand. Megan Rouault, Priyanca Sundher, Danijela Kovacevic, Makeba Taylor and Josie Mackie started for the Wolfpack.
The first quarter sparked the momentum for Saskatchewan – they capped off the opening frame 20-6 and they held onto their lead through to the end of the game.
Carly Ahlstrom led the Huskies with another dominant performance to open 2023. Ahlstrom racked up 27 points and 10 rebounds. The Wolfpack was led by Makeba Taylor and her 10 points.
Into the halftime break the Huskies led 44-29 and then after the third Wolfpack managed to cut the lead to 11.
Thompson Rivers and Saskatchewan finished the game shooting 28.0% and 48.6% from the field respectively.
