SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan vs the Thompson River University was a soccer match to be seen.
The Huskies were able to fight back thanks to
Kuhle Bekwayo scoring a game tying goal in the dying minutes to force the draw verses the WolfPack.
In the first half, the Huskies put on the pressure controlling most of the play early. The WolfPack would make no mistake off the throw in when Ryan Lewis tapped home his 6
th of the season to take the lead in the 25
th minute.
The Huskies looked for the equalizer and they thought they had the WolfPack goalkeeper beat.
Aaron Hidalgo-Mazzei's kick went off the cross bar and out of harms way, giving Thompson River the lead at the break.
The second half opened with a back-and-forth battle with both teams trading chances.
Kuhle Bekwayo, the third year out of Saskatoon Christian School, took things into his own hands with a fantastic strike from the top of the box after navigating through traffic. The goal tied it for the hometown team in the 87
th minute.
That was it for dramatics, as neither team was able to drum up much offence in the final 3 minutes of regulation time.
The Huskies are back in action tomorrow afternoon at Griffiths Stadium against the University of Fraser Valley Cascades at 2:30pm. This is also the debut for the first ever Bark In the Park day for the Huskies where limited tickets are available for dogs. All Canada West games can be watched on CanadaWest.TV.
