SASKATOON - The University of Saskatchewan Huskies men's basketball team defeated the visiting Brandon Bobcats 97-85 at the Physical Activity Complex on Friday night.
The Huskies used a balanced scoring attack in the win, with five players recording double figures in points. "After that long of a break, we came out a bit flat-footed and slow at the beginning, but in the second half we were able to get our wind back and run more," said Dewar on their fourth quarter run, "The turnovers and offensive charges we forced the Bobcats to commit in the fourth not only took the ball away from them, but also sparks energy for us where we can get some easy scores to extend the lead."
The game was back and forth all game until the fourth quarter when the Huskies were able to string together multiple defensive stops to extend their lead and win the quarter by seven.
The Bobcats started the game on an early 8-0 run on the back of two Jahmaal Gardner three-pointers. Gardner kept the Bobcats in the game by making 5 threes. The Brentwood, NY-product finished with 26 points while Sultan Haider Bhatti tallied 21 points for the Bobcats.
